Tom Lawton — “A few years ago I was working with Bootsie Barnes and he did a tune from the same album, Caddy For Daddy, and I liked that tune. So I bought the album, and this tune was on it. For the most part, when I do solo piano, or even anything less than a quartet or quintet, I like to do it differently each time and not plan even the arrangement.”
