about

Since 2012, Arc Divers has captivated audiences with dynamic live performances, creating quite the buzz and winning them a growing and dedicated following. The band is fronted by the magnetic singer-songwriter Emily Ana Zeitlyn (formerly of the Weeds), flanked by the powerhouse rhythm section of Ross Bellenoit (guitar), Thomas Bendel (drums) and Todd Erk (bass).

The group paints Zeitlyn's songs with a sort of 21st-century psychedelic brush. The canvas often recalls traditional blues forms, 50's doo-wop and Brechtian art song, but with more vibrant colors and edgy rhythms. Zeitlyn's lyrics make up a world of their own, combining harsh truths about relationships with people ("When We Met"), with time ("Bridge You Burned"), with money ("The Price Is Too High"), and even with imaginative flights of fancy ("Wild Things", an adventurous tribute to Maurice Sendak).

Produced by Jeff Hiatt and cut mostly live in the studio (the odd maraca track appears), "Holding Bodies" by Arc Divers is an impressive debut statement and a fantastic springboard for the band, bound to woo some hearts and seduce some imaginations.
